Historie
Sanday is part of the Orkney Islands, located just north of Scotland's northern tip, and the Kimbland Distillery sits right on the coast of Sanday. The distillery describes itself as the northernmost Scottish distillery in the world and is a small, family-owned distillery in Orkney.
Produktion / Fremstilling
Kimbland whisky is distilled entirely by hand, with a maximum production of 120,000 litres. The distillery aims to be among the first fully carbon-negative whiskies. Their first release is a 50 ml bottle of new make spirit, which is aged in a 20 L sherry cask for a little over a year, delivering notes of caramel and banana with raisins and toffee on the finish. There are pre-release whisky casks: 125-liter peated cask and 200-liter ex-rum barrel.
