History
LB Distillers was founded in Saskatoon after a group of friends met and drank, and decided to start a distillery. In 2010 the story of drinks began, and LB Distillers opened its doors in May 2012 as Saskatoon’s first single malt distillery since Prohibition. Originally the workshop was 3,000 square feet; they grew and moved to a larger area, becoming a family of over 30 employees with more than 5 products and expansions to almost 15,000 square feet. The ambition has always been to make spirits that are shared and celebrated together with others.
Production and Approach
LB combines traditional whisky-making with a modern approach and local ingredients. The production describes a process where the mash is fermented and distilled in a stripping still called Magic Mike and then transferred to a copper still called Ginger to become whisky. After distillation the hearts of the distillate are aged in barrels for at least three years; Angels' Share is part of the process. The distillate is classified as Canadian whisky.
Whisky Series and Flavors
LB produces small batches, and each batch is unique – each cask yields around 300 bottles. The first release in their range is a peated single malt, aged 6 years, and presents smoky notes. The tasting notes are described as peated; the aroma of smoke, dried fruits on the nose, and a warm, smooth finish. Additionally, there is a general description of a single malt whisky with heavy smoke and a soft finish.

Philosophy
LB focuses on sharing every drop: a sense of joy and togetherness through their products. The brand emphasizes local engagement and the artisanal element in the grain-to-glass process. They emphasize that Saskatchewan locally sourced ingredients are used in the development of their products, and that they value creating small, handmade products with character.
