History
The history began in 1947 in Tramin along the Wine Road, where the South Tyrolean Ludwig Psenner put his first distillation apparatus into operation to distill Grappa from the region's best by-products. Soon followed the first Obstbrandies and thus international milestones in South Tyrolean distilling craft. In 1958 Psenner decided to expand the range to Obstbrände and distilled the Williams Christ pear brandy as the first distillate of its kind, which became an international turning point. Today the Edelbrand from Williams Christ pear is the world's most important Obstbrand, and the family continues the tradition with great craftsmanship and intensity. We emphasize reflecting the diversity of South Tyrolean fruit varieties in our characterful Obstbrandies, with a distinct taste and aromatic bouquet. Through Psenner's own processing techniques and uncompromising approach, the fruits are distilled with exceptional care and aged in Barrique barrels of acacia, mulberry, chestnut and oak.
Production/Manufacturing
We value craftsmanship and precision in distillation and use Psenner's own processing techniques. Distillation takes place in copper pot stills, and depending on the variety the distillates are aged in Barrique barrels of acacia, chestnut, mulberry and oak (Oak = Eiche). Grappa is distilled in copper stills at low-temperature distillation (in a bain-marie) and aged in Barrique barrels. The Monovitigno line produces single-varietal grappas from selected grape varieties in South Tyrol, bearing the Südtirol quality label. According to selected information, eRètico is our Single Malt Whisky and it is aged in barrique barrels that previously housed Grappa and Sherry, Amarone or Gewürztraminer. The whisky series also includes: 7 years in Grappa & Gewürztraminer casks, 7 years in Grappa & Amarone casks, and 5 years in Grappa & Sherry casks.

Philosophy
Elegant essence from tradition and modernity describes the company's spirit: the family’s distilling history and our grappas, fruit brandies and aromatic liqueurs as well as our innovative Single Malt Whisky reflect ingenuity and authenticity in South Tyrol. The word eRètico refers to the ancient Raetians and also in Italian means a person who makes a free and autonomous choice – which reflects our approach to whisky. We value connections between people, regions and elements, and wood shavings in barrel aging play a central role in our portfolio. Wood-barrel-aged spirits are one of our prized offerings, and we highlight Grappa, Obstbrand and Gin as parts of our range.
