History
In the mid-1990s, seven entrepreneurs decided to create a Single Malt Whisky. After lengthy research and development, Destilerías y Distribuciones Líber emerged, a company formed as a joint-stock company on May 28, 2001 in Padul, Granada. Today it is regarded as the best 100% Spanish Single Malt Whisky. The location of the company was chosen because of the purity and quality of the water from the Sierra Nevada highlands. Now 62 partners form the firm’s robust foundation. Two business areas dominate: production of its own brands such as EMBRUJO DE GRANADA Single Malt Whisky, as well as rum, vodka, gin, gins and liqueurs; and a comprehensive portfolio of products produced for customers through bespoke production (producción a la carta).
Production
Two distinctly separated business models: (1) own-brand production including EMBRUJO DE GRANADA Single Malt Whisky and (2) extensive contract production of other beverages such as rum, vodka, gins, aguardientes and liqueurs. Their offerings also include production on demand (producción a la carta) and the option for online shopping through their shop.

Destilerías Líber produces the EMBRUJO DE GRANADA Single Malt Whisky, which is 100% Spanish. The water for production comes from springs and meltwater in the Sierra Nevada, which the company highlights as a key factor. World Whiskies Awards 2023 awarded four recognitions: Gold Medal (13–20 years) – LIBER SINGLE MALT; Best Spanish SINGLE MALT – LIBER SINGLE MALT; Winner in the 13–20 year category – LIBER SINGLE MALT; Bronze Medal – EMBRUJO DE GRANADA. Therefore they undoubtedly claim to be the best 100% Spanish Single Malt Whisky.
