History
Clara Hof Destillerie is a German-speaking spirits manufacturer located in Eckernförde, Germany. The company is run by Tanja & Andreas Michelsen (Frau-Clara-Str. 26a, 24340 Eckernförde). In 2019 Clara Hof Destillerie was recognized by World Spirits Award, where in the Gin & Vodka category they were honoured as World Class Distillery 2019, and they also received the titles Distillery of the Year (Gin & Vodka) and First Class Distillery 2019 (Bitter & Liqueurs). The jury's remarks about the performances emphasize thorough training and a systematic judging process.
Production / Manufacturing
Clara Hof Destillerie mainly produces gin and other types of spirits such as Aquavit and liqueurs. Their gin is distilled with 16 bio-botanicals and reduced to 42% ABV. One of the season's hallmarks is Porst, a Nordic bitter based on a single ingredient, Gagelstrauch (Porst), harvested in Sweden and treated as a specialty. Aquavit is produced from nine organic herbs and aged in a barrel of American white oak that previously held Bourbon whiskey and then PX Sherry, giving a complex character.

Gin distilled with 16 bio-botanicals; character: honest, rustic and with floral main notes. The nose and palate are described as a blend of spices and floral nuances, with a focus on a clean gin profile and a restrained addition of water to 42% ABV.
Porst 40% ABV – 500 ml – €39.00
Nordic bitter based on Porst (Gagelstrauch). Aromas include laurel, corn berries and woody notes; the taste highlights a subdued bitterness that pairs with smoky and earthy after-drinks and cocktails.
Aquavit aged in Sherry Cask 41% ABV – 500 ml – €45.00
Aquavit developed from nine organic herbs; aged in American white oak in a cask that previously carried Bourbon and later PX Sherry, which gives sherry notes such as candied oranges and raisins. Nose: caraway, anise and fennel supported by oak notes; Taste: spiced with a hint of sweetness from sherry, finishing with clear anise notes.
Plum with Aquavit 32% ABV – 500 ml – €27.00
A fruity combination of plums and Aquavit. Nose: ripe plum with bitter almonds; Taste: plum richness meets Aquavit's spiciness; versatile as a digestif or aperitif, neat or in cocktails.
