Historie

Weidhof lies in the Basel-Landschaft's Tafel-Jura region, above Ormalingen, with panoramic views. The 31-hectare farm operation is run in the fourth generation as a family business by Konrad and Annelies Schär.

Produktion / Fremstilling

The Ergolz Valley's mineral-rich water gives Weidhöfler Single Malt Whisky its distinctive character through several years of maturation in various oak casks from around the world. Maturation takes place in the special whisky grotto, where illusionary wall paintings and the spring-water well's climate create a suitably grotto atmosphere. Single Malt means, by definition, that the whisky comes from a single distillery and uses only malted barley. The aroma and flavor develop through the influence of the wood over time. There are also opportunities to distill an Individual Whisky for customers, where you choose ingredients and the wood type for the cask, with guidance based on many years of experience.

In addition, there is a contract distillery service, where even small quantities are distilled and monitored to maturation.

For Edelbrände produced on-site, the motto of the Spezialitätenbrennerei emphasizes: quality begins with the fruit, harvested and properly processed, with fermentation and distillation under careful control and maturation to achieve harmony.

Aroma spectrum: deep amber color; vanilla, grainy, malted, spicy, sweet, creamy and harmonious. Finish intense and lasting. Awarded by Distisuisse: Gold 2017.

Besøg / Oplevelser

Visit our farm and experience how our whisky is aged with great care in a cave, complemented by illusionary murals and appropriate lighting. The cave's climate is created by the springs' water, and the site provides a particularly atmospheric aging experience.

The quality of our Edelbrände begins in the production of the fruits: only well-ripe and clean fruits are used, and the fruits are processed and monitored during fermentation. This approach is part of our overarching philosophy of delivering high-quality products.
