History

SinGold Distillery is part of SinGold Brand GmbH, which according to the material began as a passionate venture in 2012 just outside Augsburg. The founder was named Hans-Jürgen Filp and wanted to share the fascinating world of whiskies and casks with his customers. The new SinGold Whisky Distillery in Wehringen near Augsburg opened in November 2017, where they began producing their own whiskies and giving guests the opportunity to experience the processes up close. According to the description of SinGold's development, the SIN-GOLD range consists of three self-produced whiskies: a Single Malt Whisky and a Single Grain Whisky, both aged in Bourbon casks, as well as a third whisky, which is also a Single Grain but undergoes a finish in Port wine casks. All three distillates are offered in both normal strength (40% vol.) and Fass-Strength versions. In addition, notable initiatives are mentioned such as Fass-Verkauf and the Erlebniskonzept around a Master Blender.

The history is further interpreted through descriptions of Hans-Jürgen Filp's personal approach and the ambition to give customers the opportunity to become Master Blenders through Fass-configurators and direct purchases of entire cask lots.

There is also mention of the company's previous anniversaries and focal points, including the use of own casks and the possibility to follow the whisky's origin and development through open doors and events.

The history also highlights SinGold's particular approach to conveying whisky and Fass culture through blogs, events and face-to-face experiences in Wehringen.

Production/Manufacture

Production and manufacture follow a clear connection to Scottish tradition and craftsmanship. According to the descriptions, distilling is done according to a fourfold process in a specially built Pot-Still, without re-distillation of foreshots and feints, which is said to give a clean distillate. It involves using a whole grain mash and an unmalted approach in the process, where control and craftsmanship are emphasized. The overall picture also describes a production focused on high-quality distillate and open aging in casks in Wehringen, where climatic conditions and the open Fass hall give the whisky room to breathe and develop over time.

SinGold also emphasizes that their whisky is not necessarily filtered or colored, and that the individual products are offered in both normal strength and Fass-Strength to preserve some of the original strength and flavor intensity.

The art of aging is described as being housed in its own storage in Wehringen, where corks and casks play an important role, and where the climate (mild winters, dry summers) supports natural maturation over several years. The Livingcask concept is also mentioned, where you as owner can buy new raw distillate and/or fill an existing whisky cask to keep the journey and filling going, and where smaller amounts can be added over time to keep the cask active.

Products / Whisky Series

SinGold's own whisky production is described as three primary products in the first line of their own whiskies: - Single Malt Whisky (aged in Bourbon casks) - Single Grain Whisky (aged in Bourbon casks) - Single Grain Whisky Port Finish (Port wine finish) These three distillates are available in both regular strength and Fass-Strength versions. This approach highlights a desire for authentic flavor without unnecessary filtration or coloring.

In addition to their own products, there is in the shop's range a number of whisky varieties and topics, such as Tawny Port Cask and Sherry Cask variants of the Single Malt, as well as other own releases and special limited offerings. For example among the products: - Single Malt Whisky Tawny Port Cask (0.7 L, 46% vol) - Single Malt Sherry Cask (46% vol) - Single Malt Fass Nr. 2 (43% vol) - Single Malt aged in Erzgebirge (0.5 L, 44.53% vol) - Single Grain Port Finish (43% vol) There is also mention of Batch No. 2 Tasting Set, which provides a varied tasting journey through SinGold's whisky range. Furthermore, Chamber music from other distilleries in the batch, such as Thousand Mountains and Glenshiel/Teaninich, is presented in connection with joint releases and special single-cask sets.

SinGold also emphasizes that some products are available as Fass purchases and billed via a configurator system, where customers can choose cask size and build their own whisky cask (5 to 250 liters, as well as various pre-fill options such as First-Fill Bourbon, First-Fill Sherry, etc.). Some of these cask sets are offered in smaller portions (e.g., 5 liters) and can be picked up at the distillery or shipped for a fee. There is also an option for co-owners to buy shares in a cask and have their own bottles filled.

Visits / Experiences

SinGold offers experiences at their SinGold Erlebnis-Destillerie in Wehringen near Augsburg. The visits include whisky tastings with house-produced whiskies and stories about the distillation process. There are also regular whisky dinners, rum and cigar tastings, as well as grill-and-experience events. In addition, visitors can plan to explore the warehouse and the production itself; there is also the possibility to participate in Brenner workshops and to prepare their own tasting experiences through one of its tasting sessions.

On-site there is also a bottle display and selection of products in the physical shop warehouse – where customers can buy and receive advice on the various products and Fass configurations. Finally there is a Fass-configurator and the possibility to engage in Fass-venture via shares and joint projects.

Philosophy

SinGold's philosophy, according to the descriptions, is that whisky making is a deep fascination: in whisky making every drop and every cask has its own unique fascination. The distillery aims to share this fascination with customers and create personal whisky experiences: to let the individual customer through the Fass-configurator become Master Blender and have their own cask-tailored whisky. Emphasis is placed on locality and natural development through open casks, climatic variation and an open approach to experiencing and following the whisky's journey – while the current products remain young, unfiltered and uncolored.

Their approach is also closely tied to the local environment: use of local raw materials around the SinGold region, as well as open aging, which allows the whisky to mature in a climate where the regional nature plays a role.

SinGold also presents a strong curiosity and experimental spirit, allowing the use of different cask types and raw materials to achieve unique flavor profiles, and they value the customer's role as co-creator through special events and concepts such as Fass-configuration and Master Blender experiences.
