Mackmyra Swedish Whisky
About the distillery (Kort om destilleriet)
Mackmyra is a Swedish whisky brand with roots in 1999 and a clear desire to do things differently. Here they work with carefully selected Swedish raw materials and maturation in special environments such as Bodås mine (Bodås gruva), and the result is described as whisky that brings together craftsmanship, innovation, and a Nordic character. The range includes both classic single malts, peated releases, and more experimental series.
History (Historie)
Mackmyra was founded in 1999 and quickly established itself as a pioneer in Swedish whisky. From the very beginning, the company has combined traditional whisky thinking with a more experimental approach, where Swedish raw materials and special maturation environments play a central role. Today, Bodås mine is highlighted in particular as an important maturation site, and at the same time there is talk of a system of casks and warehouses spanning several locations. Most recently, the warehouse in Smögen has been phased out, and the casks are moved to Bodås to simplify logistics and shorten the time to bottling.
Raw materials and production (Råvarer og produktion)
The raw materials come from Carefully selected Swedish raw materials.
Maturation takes place under the following conditions: Maturation in unique environments such as Bodås mine (Bodås gruva); also mentioned are the warehouse in Smögen, Skogslagret, Loftsdalen, Häckeberga, Fjäderholmarna and Paris.
Special production characteristics include Maturation in Bodås mine (Bodås gruva), Cask maturation across multiple distinct warehouses mentioned as Skogslagret, Loftsdalen, Häckeberga, Fjäderholmarna and Paris, The Smögen warehouse is moved to Bodås to streamline logistics and shorten bottling times, Use of Swedish raw materials, Craft-based production and Focus on sustainability and innovation.
Maturation and cask types (Modning og fadtyper)
Maturation takes place in special environments, especially Bodås mine (Bodås gruva), which is given a prominent place in the story. Casks stored in Skogslagret, Loftsdalen, Häckeberga, Fjäderholmarna and Paris are also mentioned, and a previous warehouse in Smögen is being phased out because the casks are moved to Bodås. This underscores that Mackmyra works practically and deliberately with different maturation sites, where the environment around the casks is part of the whisky itself.
Whiskies (Whiskyer)
The range is described as a blend of classic single malts, peated releases, and special and experimental series. It gives the picture of a producer that both embraces the familiar and the exploratory, without letting go of its Swedish identity. Award-winning whisky products are mentioned, but no specific product names are provided in the delivered text, so the overview must stay at range level. The common thread is a whisky profile that combines tradition with development and local raw materials with different maturation environments.

Mackmyra does not describe an open visitor center here, but there is a specific opportunity to get close to the casks through cask tastings (fatprovning) at Restaurang Stora Vall.
