History

Switchgrass Spirits began in 2016 with the goal of creating a fair, craft distillery that produces high-quality whiskey and brandy. We built and renovated a historic American Legion hall in the northern part of St. Louis. We focus on creating and aging only our own product using Midwestern labor and ingredients. In February 2020 we launched our first aged and bottled cocktail to the public, and since then we have been working to offer a range of popular whiskeys, fruit brandies, and collaboration projects.

The name Switchgrass Spirits is a tribute to our local environment and to everyone who has helped us along the way. Our approach is shaped by community, and the support from friends, family, and the local community made it possible for us to realize the vision of a worker-owned, environmentally conscious company.

Production/Manufacturing

We proudly share our grain-to-glass distillation and aging process, and focus on producing and aging only our own product using Midwestern labor and ingredients. Since our beginnings in 2016 we have refined our craft and process to deliver high-quality whiskey and brandy.

Products/Whiskey Series

We produce whiskey and brandy and, in February 2020, released our first aged and bottled cocktail, and since then we have been working to offer a variety of popular whiskies, fruit brandies, and collaborative projects.

Tours/Experiences

Distillery tours are held primarily on Saturdays, and advance tickets are required. Visit our distillery, located in a converted American Legion hall in the St. Louis area, to learn about our approach to production and to sample a variety of products. The ticket price includes a one-hour tour of our facilities, an overview of our history, a tasting of our entire spirit family, and a $10 discount on any bottle purchased on-site.

We strive for an equitable craft distillery with Midwestern ingredients and labor, and we are a worker-owned and environmentally conscious company. We place emphasis on community and sustainability, and our work is driven by the support of friends, family, and the local community.
