Round Barn Winery & Estate

Short overview of the distillery

Round Barn Winery & Estate is located in Baroda, Michigan, and combines a winery, brewery, and distillery on the same property. Since 2001 the site has produced craft spirits, and guests can enjoy tastings, live music, and events. Bourbon Barn is a cocktail lounge in the red barn, where the distillery’s own bourbons, rye, and other spirits are used in signature drinks.

History

Round Barn stems from the Moersch family's long-standing involvement in wine production in Southwest Michigan. As a supplement to wine and beer, spirits production was established in 2001, after which the distillery's products have increasingly been incorporated into the property's events and guest activities. Over time, the property has evolved into a multi-faceted visitor destination with tastings, music, food offerings, and special festivals, where new spirit releases and special barrel projects are showcased.

Raw materials and production

The distillery produces several types of spirits, including bourbon, rye/whiskey, vodka, rum, gin, and agave-based spirits. Located close to Lake Michigan and in a fruit belt, it provides access to regional ingredients that form part of the property's identity. Public descriptions do not specify details about malting, fermentation, still configurations, or bottling parameters, but show a production environment that both yields bottled spirit releases and supplies raw materials for cocktails and on-site events.

Aging and barrel types

The material documents the use of former bourbon casks for aging and experiments, including, for example, a Bourbon Barrel Aged Red Wine. However, there is no technical information about the type of oak, the origin of the barrels, or the exact aging times for the distillery's whiskies. The use of bourbon casks forms part of product development and in special releases and events.

Whiskeys

The portfolio spans wine, craft spirits, and beer. On the spirits side, bourbon, rye/whiskey, vodka, rum, gin, and agave-based products are listed. The distillery markets both single releases and series, such as the Lighthouse Series, and products are actively used in on-site experiences such as cocktails in Bourbon Barn and at festivals with whiskey tastings.
